Hello ARCers! I'm hoping to GM a Serenity game up at the SFU Burnaby campus this coming semester and I hope to make it as awesome as I think it will be. I'm hoping for between 4-5 players, with a special twist which I will explain later in the post. Now, for those of you who have not played the Serenity system, or even know of the Firefly universe to begin with, let me go over the basic rundown.

Story

So it's like this. 200 years ago, the world as we know became overpopulated. Resources became increasingly scarce against the largest baby boom ever, and in light of this, the human race left Earth. With Earth (now known as Earth-That-Was) in their wake, an entire solar system filled with dozens of planets and hundreds of moons proved ripe for the taking. With this, the two dominant superpowers of Earth-That-Was, China and the United States, settled on the two capital planets SIHNON and LONDINIUM. Over then next 200 years, humanity terra-formed and colonized the surrounding planets. But, with the new era of humanity came its share of problems. While those on the central planets enjoyed the luxury of advanced technology and exuberant comforts, the pioneers of the outer rim had to fight tooth and nail for every inch of their lives. Over time, the growing tension of power and authority compelled the central planets to form the ALLIANCE, ruled and regulated by the governing PARLIAMENT. Immediately, the Alliance set out to control the entire solar system, which the outer rim did not take kindly to. The ensuing Unification War saw whole worlds destroyed, and great losses on either side, but in the end the Alliance proved victorious. And for five years the solar system has been at relative peace, with a few dangers still lurking in the shadows. In recent years, a terrifying force has emerged in the Black of space. These abominable monsters known as REAVERS live in perpetual madness, tearing flesh from bone, eating the eyes from your socket, and causing suffering in ways hell had never considered, and they will kill you only if you are extremely lucky.

You all begin in on the backwater planet of Whitefall for one reason, to meet the most renowned dealer of information in the 'verse, Harmonious Yang, who has something that each of you want. From here your path will be filled with quests that span from before the events of Firefly, to beyond the ending of Serenity.

Characters

Some of you may be able to build your characters on your own, which is fine. For those of you who can't, that is alright, as I have a small twist from the normal structure of things.  Smiley Before the group begins the game proper, I want to get together with everyone who is playing for a single person adventure. This adventure will be your Origin, and will help you set up some character plot-lines alongside the main plot. This will also provide a good framework for why you are meeting Yang in the first place.

Let me know when you guys are available and we we get this show on the road! Smiley

In the little town of Homefront came a stranger one fine day
Didn't talk to those around him, and he hates the month of may
He was cold and dark and livid, and he wanted to be sure
That he robbed the people plainly with the pistol that he wore

Then the RCMP ranger who was stationed there arose
He got up on his psychic horse and then the stranger froze
The horse it neighed and galloped and the stranger hit the floor
for the ranger's horse was deadly and had beaten him before

Quote from: Introduction
"Earth was the cradle of our species, our civilization, our ideals: but Earth could not support us all, so great was our number.

So we built great arks and flung ourselves into the black, away from the pale light of our lonely yellow sun. We found new suns and a hundred new Earths to support our ever-increasing need for resources.

The first worlds to be colonized, they formed the Alliance, a bastion of justice, prosperity and democracy. It was a great and noble enterprise to bring the benefits of law and advanced technology to the Rim, where the strong ruled, families went hungry and men died for the most insensible reasons. With hands outstretched in welcome, they sought to unify all of mankind under an aegis of prosperity.

Some worlds felt like dissenting, and they were far from peaceable about it.

Some folk in those parts had grown powerful in the absence of fairness, and didn't want their slaves to have the same rights they did. Some had fed off the chaos. Some folk just didn't feel that it was right for one man to rule over another. Regardless of their reasons, these outer worlds formed the Independents, and fought the Alliance in a long, brutal war.

There was a sea of blood shed on both sides, much of it innocent, but the outcome was never in doubt. The Independent cause was doomed from the start.

It's been five years since then. The Rim, now officially Alliance territory, is still a dangerous place, ruled by Parliament, but controlled by bullies, petty tyrants, criminals, terrorists and worse.

I've come to this place to help fix that. By the powers vested in me by the duly elected government of the Alliance, I will bring peace, order and good government to the Rim.

My name is Ingram Li. I am an Alliance Federal Marshal.

This is my story."

Tuesdays after 5:30 would be best for me.

Tuesdays won't work for me, I have classes until 10 PM that day. Wednesdays would work well for me, as well as potentially Thursdays and Mondays, I'll post an update on my availability ASAP.

I can do those days too, preferably Wednesdays, as I'm on campus anyways.

If there is a spot, I would love to play on Wednesdays, since I think the Warhammer game is going to be on Thursdays.

So is this game still happening or has it been postponed/cancelled?

Unfortunately, the game is postponed. I wish it were otherwise, but school has cracked down hard this month. Hopefully next semester.
