"Excellent, in which case, His Lordship shall provide 1 gold a year for the maintenance of the new town guards, and a 20 silver salary for the only Captain currently required, that of Doumehold."

One of our greatest concerns at the moment is the crime wave sweeping our kingdom, but following that, housing is also an issue, as many of our citizens live in ramshackle hovels, constructed haphazardly and ready to fall down with an errant wind. Scribe, what are the required materials necessary to build an average house, including wood, stone, and other items, and in what amounts? What is the composition of the average family, that is, how many children to a household? Roughly how many families currently live in the capital? And finally, what is the overall population of our kingdom, and the overall number of families altogether? Answer these numerous questions swiftly, and I shall see about putting five coppers down for a set of custom-made woolen insoles for those clogs of yours - the stench of the sores on the soles of your feet can be smelt from over here.

With all due respect, isn't that backwards? Request some crown funds to stage the contest if you will, but there is no reason for the crown to be the safety net for incompetent organizers. They can cover their own overruns on the contract.

Lord Doume, with respect to your defense bill, I question some small inquiry about the specifics.

As the minister for civil security, I will be held accountable to any and all failures for this bill. However, will the trained guards be still under the rule of their proper house, or do I get authority over their actions. If possible, it would be more just to have them be under their own house, but still allowing the hose of Tor to oversee parts of this program.

Also, due to an unclear objective and lack of information in the pointy sticks act, it shall be removed from voting for a revision, if such an act is required in the near future.

"His Lordship would like to reassure the Minister for Civil Security that although the day-to-day running of the guards will be under the auspices of a Great House, the Minister himself should not be held responsible for any failings, as His Majesty would only have the legal right not to punish his minister, but the Great House responsible. In addition, the Minister of Civil Security would continue to have overall authority over all law-enforcement forces, which the Great Houses must obey."

What is this! The Pointy Sticks bill is unacceptable as I see it! No criminal shall be horned outside of the Horned Lords eyes! If there is to be horning, it is to be done by a Horny Priest!

Also in light of the new military acts, I wish to propose this.

The Bill of Sharp Horns.

1: To bolster the morale, provide religious support and keep our soldiers morals in check, I opt for the training of Horny Chaplains, masters of the ancient and powerful arts of the Horny Rush, and trained in the art of warfare. Few shall be trained, but they shall be the finest and most devout warriors from the church of the horny lord!

2: That all armor must bare the sigil of his Royal Highness house, as well as the horns of the goat. Preferably on the head. To put them on the chest is useless.

In the little town of Homefront came a stranger one fine day
Didn't talk to those around him, and he hates the month of may
He was cold and dark and livid, and he wanted to be sure
That he robbed the people plainly with the pistol that he wore

Then the RCMP ranger who was stationed there arose
He got up on his psychic horse and then the stranger froze
The horse it neighed and galloped and the stranger hit the floor
for the ranger's horse was deadly and had beaten him before

Lord Doume, this bill is much too risky for a man of your standing. If we were to lose such a house as powerful such as yours, this loss would be dreadful. Therefore, I purpose that the hose of Vig bear the weight of the initial stage. All expenses will be paid by the hose, while a progress report will be provided by myself or a third party member regularly, whoever you would trust more.

Perhaps I am unclear in the concept, but the act of horning require a horny priest in the first place.

Scribe:"Most intelligent of instigators, I have consulted the wisemen. The average house in the capital is made of bricks and wood, but the exact amounts are privy only to the masons. The families, according to the ancient tomes, should have as many children as possible. The number of families is unclear, but the overall population is estimated to be one thousand-thousand, or as the wisemen called it, one million."

Scribe:"The arcane arts of the Royal Engineers are vast and unfathomable by small ones such as I, but I would venture that printing fliers and distributing them across the nation would be no small task, and probably cost several Gold. Furthermore, if we cover the cost of construction of such machines, I dread to think of the material cost. "

A brief list of suggested cost-saving measures to the engineering tournament:

1. Only one sign per town need be posted, at the town square. Word of mouth shall do the rest of the work.

2. In the lands of each Great House there should first be a challenge of much smaller scale to weed out the pretenders and to curb the overall material cost of the contest. No more than two entrants shall be allowed to pass to the finals from each House's holdings, and no more than sixty entrants shall be permitted into the final challenge from the whole of Westeria.

3. Either the final challenge should be of smaller scale than you suggest, or the final contestants should be arranged in pairs. An entire siege tower seems excessive for only one engineer to undertake.
