It looks like world height will be increased in the future. You can make your towers even taller!

by the way, minecraft 1.2 raised the ceiling from 128 to 256 or something...

just in time for me to decide to make a babel tower.

Never thought I'd say it, but I actually need more cobblestone.

thanks for letting me know, I wasn't aware since I don't play very often anymore.

I tried resetting the server to the latest update, try it now. (I can't confirm because Java is being a jerk to me atm)

I'm in the middle of updating the server to 1.3.1. (Some random things I like in particular are being able to write in books, the teleport command can be used for specific coordinates instead of <playername> and Ender Chests.)
There are a few hiccups I'm trying to work out but hopefully the server will be fully operational within the next hour or so.

There's also been some talk about the server possibly getting shut down soon. Probably because of lack of interest (and therefore a waste of money to pay for the server every month). In the event that that does happen, I can provide a download of the server world for anyone who wants it. Just a warning though, it's fucking huge and probably takes up more than a gig. Might even be 2. I blame all the people who traveled to coordinates x=20000 or something crazy like that; it expanded the world too much and now there's so much empty space.

Thanks for updating the server Sam!

A friend of mine and I are playing on it. It would be a shame to see it shut down, but I'd gladly take a download of the file any time (and somehow I'd edit out the massive extensions by random explorations).

My little brother recently built a PC for himself. Pretty sweet machine. He's ready to start gaming. He'd like to try out Minecraft before he buys, and I don't blame him. Does anyone have an account they don't mind letting him borrow for a few days? I'd love to show him around the server!
