Girls with Swords (pilot)

Hey guys. I'm working on an internet pilot for something that could turn into a series of some sort. It's going to feature a pretty unique style of recreating anime and cartoon elements with cardboard art and special effects. Basically this is an open call to anyone who wants to jump in and help out. There are a couple putative scripts written and we're in the character design stage. We're looking for people with art skills to do character sketches and/or people willing to help on costuming and props. Photoshop skills will be helpful too, although there will be tutorials for anyone that wants to learn. Once shooting begins we'll have a tight crew, but there will be space for people who want to help out with lighting and foley/sound, which I always found to be a good learning experience for people who want to do video.

The show is called Girls with Swords - it's about three girls who get magic swords and go around as adventurers-for-hire in a fantasy world. It'll feature comedy and action elements, and episodes will come in five-minute installments. The pilot is aiming to be a two-minute teaser trailer.

One Waffle Wednesday - 24 Hour Short Film

Hey we're still in pre-production and things are shaping up to be pretty awesome. This is going to be so rad.

The guy in charge of costumes needs some extra hands:

If at all possible I need people to come over tomorrow and saturday to help with costumes. Preferably crafty people who can work from sketches without too much instruction. Also, anyone who can sew will be useful to me.

We've gotten a lot of good help from people so far. If anyone wants to join in then contact me ASAP cause we only have friday and saturday to finish off the costumes.

The overall look of the video is going to be a lot like the link below, namely cause the visual effects guy from Rainbow Town is going to be directing Girls with Swords. Except it's going to be totally nuts. We've been watching Hirouki Imaishi animations all month to get super pumped and inspired.

Hey we finished the video. Thanks to everyone who helped out - it turned out most excellent. This is only the first half of what we shot. We want to finish post-production on the second part of the episode, but we're going to need help. This is for a contest and if we win then we'll get the money we need to pay people for their work and continue the series.
