Sam is welcomed into his new home by the owner of the house, Mike Lim. They kick things off pretty well.
Perhaps Mike is telling Sam about his successful career as a businessman? I don't really know. I don't speak Simlish.

I do understand that Sam is professing his love for the colour red.

to which Mike retorts that black is clearly the superior colour.
yeeeep, they're having a really interesting conversation.

Sam turns around the corner...

...to find Harry Potter eating cereal in the living room?
Mike closes his eyes out of embarrassment.

that's right - Harry Potter is another roommate in this household.
the hows and whys aren't important at this point but if you must know I rather like this little piece so let's just go with it for now.
Harry is a total slob and doesn't clean up after himself. he also eats an obscene amount of cereal as you can see behind him.

Sam finds a bowl of cereal on the kitchen counter that was left unfinished and decides to help himself.
Mike gives a look of concern.

he turns his back and can't stand to watch as Harry licks his cereal bowl clean. the guy really likes his fucking cereal.

disgusted by his cereal-obsessed roommates, Mike gets right to work and prepares a real dinner for himself: mac and cheese.

meanwhile, Harry watches a food program on TV in order to improve on his cooking skills and hopefully remove himself from having to eat cereal all the time. Sam is uninterested and reads a book instead.

whoops! it looks like Mike's burnt his mac and cheese.

how terrible do you have to be to screw up mac and cheese?

the facial expressions in this game are priceless

not wanting to waste any more time with cooking, Mike decides to suck it up and eat his failure of a dish regardless.

"Eh, that wasn't so bad," he says to himself.

our Sims are starting to get tired, so they decide that the best course of action would be...

..to start up an argument for no reason at all.

I don't even know man. Maybe Mike is fed up with how much of a lazy slob his roommate is.

Harry is OFFENDED by Mike Lim's behaviour.

Harry wants to end the night by starting up gossip about the guy behind him.
Mike looks uninterested and just wants to sleep.

as the two of them retire to their respective bedrooms, a thought comes across Sam's mind:

"Wait, where the hell am I supposed to sleep?"

yes, after all, this unit only has two bedrooms and one bathroom.
Sam certainly didn't expect Harry Potter, of all people, to take up his spot in the household.
with Mike and Harry taking up the only two beds in the house, where will Sam go?

"I guess this leaves me only one choice..."

this means nothing.
