Setting notes:
Spoiler for ???:
Once there was no city. Once, Man did not exist. Then the gods came, and created Man. then Man created machines. Man and the machines made the cities. The cities spread to all corners of the globe, until there was no globe left to make cities on. Then Man built up, and up, and up, and unceasingly so.
Now there is only the city. Men are everywhere. Machines run, but are not built. That knowledge has been lost to time. And possibly to The Gods.

Now, there is great inequality. Now, there are guillotine-fruit. Wall based farming. The sky grows black with smoke from magical industries. We celebrate every feast day as a growing of new life. new food is new life. the sky-gods live on the spires, and we below. one day, you might meet them, should you do as you are told, and be a good Man. A good man does as he is told. A good man does all for the spire towns. A Good Man Plants and creates, and gives his all to improve the race he lives with.

System: D&D 3.5
Level: 5.
what that means: 10,000 xp.
9000 gold.
32 point buy for stats. (this will be explained during the character making session)
Who you are:
You are members of a newly formed mercenary group. any alignment is fine, though I would try to dissuade you from chaotic evil. Anything you did before you got into this group is fair game, just consult me about things you aren't sure on. I give backstory experience, depending on how good it is (and no this is not fair, but I've given you plenty to work with. good = working with the setting, and making interesting characters, and explaining your character's motivations.) It won't be over a thousand xp, but it will probably be significant. As for classes, I'm willing to say nothing's off limits, unless it's pun-pun or some such. I'm not expecting people to do that for a Newby game, though.
I'm willing to help out with character creation, and we will set a date for that in another time (or, it could be done during the sleepover if people are so inclined). Also, in spite of the 'man' based nature of the intro spiel, any race is fine, provided it doesn't have any level adjustment.

Unless you want people knowing your deep dark secrets, send your backstories to me. either is okay, i'm just saying if you want to keep secrets from the party, that's fine. if you want to collaborate with others on backstories, that's also okay too.

First 5 people to post get dibs on character slots. that doesn't mean all will get to play (due to scheduling) so post on up anyway.

Monday or Wednesday works for me [but definitely not Tuesday, 3 classes that day. xD].
I wanna be a striker!
I'm currently playing a Tiefling Infernal Pact warlock in a 4th edition game right now, I really like it but I don't want to get too burnt out on one character type.

D&D 3.5 has warlock, but if you're interested in playing a striker (melee, I assume?) I'd suggest a barbarian(RAGE), paladin (knight in shining armour), duskblade(Knight in slightly less shining armour... with ARCANE FIREBLASTS AND STUFF), a monk, or any of the tome of battle classes (crusader: better version of paladin, but much more complicated; swordsage, Monks with blade magic; or warblade.) if you want something ranged, maybe go for a ranger or wizard. if you're interested in any of these classes, but don't know where they come from, feel free to ask.

Hmm, not sure if I'm too late to post this (I didn't really check the forums for the past few weeks, lol). But if there's still an opening, I'm good with any days. I either be a gnome/dwarf healer or cleric this time around, still undecided...

you're not late at all. You're welcome to join. The game will not start until the first week or so of classes for next semester (Which will be the week of May 7th.) before then we'll be doing a character creating session, probably the weekend before, or some other time that's convenient.

I was thinking wizard. I wouldn't mind being a controller if that would work better with the group.

Also, I'm really glad we're all making our sheets together as I have no idea what I'm doing. =D But don't worry, I have my own dice and a sweet mini in the works.

Would everybody be cool with a character creation session on saturday or sunday? (friday also works, if people want; i'll be on campus in any event). I don't expect it to take much longer than 2-3 hours.

Chris, I can help you out on-campus tomorrow. I'll be going to the gym from 2:00 to 3:30 or 4. so if you can meet me after that timeframe, or perhaps before (around 12 or so) that would work best. i'll be in the rotunda, as usual.

One space now available. current party makeup is crusader, druid, bard/warblade, and cleric. this means a skill monkey would be a definite asset, but anybody willing to join is welcome, regardless of class.

If that space is still open I would be interested, however it would be my first time playing D&D and I would need a bit of help getting started.

I'm on-campus most days other than weekends, and I can help you out with character generation. just name a time. I usually hang out in the rotunda between classes, so i'd like to say i'm fairly accessible. if you like, I can do a small (30 minute) tutorial to hopefully get you familiarized with the rules.
