I recall you talking about Planetside several months ago, but then I found out that it's a subscription-based game. Good to know that this one is going free to play.

I'm still interested - I'll try to keep up with the news about this game.

Do you have any idea what kind of character/build/role/whatever you'd want to play as?

Transport pilot, ideally. I flew Galaxy Transports with a pretty large outfit in Planetside 1 and combat-dropping people into a fight was bloody brilliant. However, because you can swap out "skills" on the fly, every

hours if I remember correctly, I will probably also play as a medium grunt/light spec ops style character.

PlanetSide1 has NO economy system. Everything is earned by playing the game. That's one of the top reasons I love PlanetSide.

But with Free2Play, there must be some in-game items you can buy with real $.
I already found part of the new money system on their website.

PlanetSide2 can be a good game if the designers still have the right idea. We will see.

from what I have heard, you will be able to spend money on cosmetics but not in game items that affect gameplay.

In addition, not only will the game have no subscription, but it will likely be COMPLETELY FREE as well. Don't hold me to that, but I've heard it being bandied about because all pre-orders were canceled. If that is the case, you all have no reason to not join me in glorious Terran Republic.
