Why are people not allowed to submit fan art? Fan art has been auctioned off at the Anime Evolution auction (and similar events) on multiple occasions, and there has never been an issue of any kind.

I was wondering about that too.

"What the heck do I draw then?? No one wants my original art!" lol

I was under the impression that we had agreed not to allow fanart because of copyright issues. However, if no one has any objections I will change the rules.

Conventions sell fanart. Everywhere. All the time. They have whole sections of cons dedicated to it, with thousands of people buying art of copyrighted characters.  And they have to pay to get in!
Why is it a problem if us, a measly university club, sells fanart?
I really can't see this thing being a hit if it's all original art anyways.

Does the art have to be related to Asia/anime/manga/games/Magic, etc.? Or can I bring a mélange of works, like a canvas painting of a cheetah, or something like that? (feels like this is a silly question)

Look guys, all I know about fanart is that last year, when we discussed it, there was talk of NOT allowing it because of copyright issues. It's changed now and we ARE allowing it. Thank you for your input.

Hannah, the art does not have to be anime-related, any kind of art is acceptable.

I did, thank you! It looks fantastic. I'll get it up and put out some posters ASAP. Also, do you know of a good place either at the Burnaby campus or nearby to store the pieces once they've been submitted?

Considering the deadline is in just over a week, someone should send out a message about this. People might have forgotten about it, and then need they might some time to whip something up. I know I forgot, haha. Or postpone the submission date further? The date is so close but I've heard nothing.

I'll be sending out a reminder to everyone by the end of the week, hopefully.
