To be honest I would prefer Tatar or Cossacks, but powergamer in me is too strong to let you join a fraction inefficient for your type of troops.

Fuck Tartars. They're Mongol pussies. If you're going to do ranged cavalry, do Cossacks. They have guns not bows.

I say grind off-screen. Because you lost a fair amount of good troops and money replacing them.

I'd say go with neither the Russians nor Cossacks yet. Get some money first, then talk. You see, the biggest thing about joining a side is the fact that you'll actually have to make an effort to help the lords. Money is needed to do so, and you're dirt poor.

Also, getting a small force of around 20-30 really good fighters will help immensely, because if it's you and some douchebag Cossack army against the Sweds 100+ guys, you'll have to man up a bit. So grind a bit off screen, just to get some moneys and dudes.

Part 9: Two Dozen Heavily Armed Men on a Mission

Recap: Kind of a filler episode. I just wanted to show off low level noble missions before I inevitably join a faction. I'll be grinding a bit more before next update though.
Question: Same as last episode's question.

Sorry for the two week hiatus. With class starting and Aetherpunk in beta testing, I won't be able to update as quickly or as frequently as I used to, but I'll still try my best to keep going.

Part 10-1: For mine is an EVIL LAUGH!

Part 10-2: Special Mission Fail

Recap: I officially joined the Russian faction by starting on their faction storyline via a letter of recommendation from Jacques de Clermont. At the order of my new employer, Prince Trubetskoi, I burned down about 60% of Poland's remaining villages. To pass the time after the mission, I tried to do a special mission for the Czar, wherein I failed miserably.
Question: Alright, due to M&B's open ended nature, With Fire and Sword has no real ending. If I were to keep playing until I got bored and ran out of things to do, I would be LPing for a year and I don't have that kind of time. As I see it, this LP is about at its halfway point. I want to know when you think I should end this LP. Should it be when:
-I become a lord and get my first village?
-Take my first fortress? (Aside from your original village, you have to take any additional fiefs in war)
-Take my first town? (That would effectively make me one of the most powerful nobles in the game)
-Finish the Russian storyline?
-I reach some other milestone?

Your call viewers, as always.

End it when you take your first town.

I would also go with Town.
Is it possible to eliminate all but one warring parties on the map?

Yeah, but unlike Warband, you can't rule that faction.

Taking the town would be a good stopping point, unless you can take more than just that. It'll be cool if the end of the game means ALL the properties are yours, without it being too trivial at that point. I think that made my playthrough too boring at that point, when I owned literally every town.

As nice as it would be to go until I sweep across the plains of Poland like the scourge of god, I don't really have the time. Speaking of which, with my first wave of papers coming in, I won't have much time to do this anyways. I'll be putting this on hiatus until I can get the time to put another update up.

Chances are, I'll be running this LP until I take my first town though.
