Openings available

/ARC/ers,

First: I wish you all the best of luck in these busy and stressful times. I hope your papers, exams and final assignments go well.

Second: At this time there are two openings in the club's executive council. I thought it would be prudent to announce these early, so that there is time for those interested to weigh their options. The openings are as follows:

Internal Vice President: Currently held by Kiril. This position requires constant dealing with the SFSS in the coordination of events and grants. The internal VP must also communicate and coordinate with other executive members and directors while planning events and allocating club funds.

President: Currently held by Yours Truly.  This position equips you with a false sense of authority, while binding you with a marionette's strings. You are tasked only with dancing to the tune of your unseen manipulator, while shouldering any responsibility these actions entail.


Don't forget about the sleep over party on the 29th of April, where we'll be replacing our body's requisite hours of sleep with geeky endeavors.

Is there anything good about being ARC President, Alex? You make it sound as if it's more trouble than it's worth.

I'll most likely run for position of internal vice president, but it depends on the competition.

Also, these two Director positions will be left vacant for the summer term: weekly screenings director (because Jeffery is giving it up) and concessions director (because I will be moving out of residence next week and will no longer be able to keep the snacks).

As far as I know, these positions are appointed by the President instead of nominated and voted in. So while we can't elect people now, it'd be good to let everyone know early so those interested will have time to think for the next general meeting in May.

I can provide my place for snack storage, but most likely someone would have to pick them up as I rarely visit weeklies/club events

That sounds like it could work, but the concessions director will (preferably) have to live on or close to SFU. And the concessions director has to be there at every weeklies to sell snacks and keep track of the money.

As President Dictator For Life, my first act will be to see to it that there are no more elections. All positions will be appointed by me based on trolling prowess and general dickery. I WILL NOT RUN THIS INTO THE GROUND AND LAUGH AT THE IDIOTS WHO SUPPORTED ME! OUR FUTURE IS THAT OF GERMANY CIRCA 1936, NOT THAT OF LIBYA AND EGYPT CIRCA NOW.

This would leave a vacancy for Communications Officer, although I'm not sure how I would redistribute the duties of CO if I do become President.
However, if anyone's interested (it would, at bare minimum, entail secretarial duties such as writing up minutes) then that may also be up for grabs.

Isn't vice president just another name for secretary, anyways? Stuff like writing up minutes and sending e-mails is easy work. Even I could do it.
