ARC Minecraft Server

Good day ARC!

As you all know (or should) the ARC now has a Minecraft server, running on Jestservers. It runs lag-free (unless you're on SFU-Net and that's beyond my control, sorry,) and seems to be issue-free thus far. Our server representative, Kevin from Jestservers, is a fantastic guy - within ten minutes of sending a support ticket, I had a response, and twenty minutes from my sending, he had solved the issue, so I'm quite pleased (and you should be too) with our server hosts.

Enough of that though, so below is the info you need to play here!

One final note before you log on: READ THE RULES. They're right here, and not reading them is not an excuse for breaking them.

Server Rules:

• Trolling will result in an immediate permanent ban from the server.
• There will only be one Chrono Trigger rune on the the server, and it is located in the Citadel - do not use it.
• The Citadel is open to everyone, but only those that pay to support the server will have rooms in it.
• The use of Solar Flare, Faith, and Topsy Turvy runes are grounds for insta-ban, no questions asked. Do not do it if you want to keep playing on the server.
• Don't touch other peoples work, and don't lead creepers to it either. Unless they say you can.
• Anything in the server storehouse (which will be located permanently at the Citadel entrance, there is a temporary storehouse there now,) is communal. Anyone can take it. However, if you borrow it, you must attempt to replace it in the future with more than you borrowed. This is because people put effort into mining for those materials, or harvesting them, and you can't simply take things for free without attempting to give back to the community. If you borrow ten stacks of cobble/dirt/sand/wood and never attempt to replace it and I find out, I will issue you a warning, and if I have to warn you a second time, you will be banned for two weeks. If I have to do it again, it will be a perma-ban.
• The server difficulty is set to VERY HARD. This will not change. Make shelters, make sure to torch everything, and keep yourself safe. If you die due to a creeper/skeleton/zombie I will not reimburse your items. If you die due to a bug, I will reimburse your items.
• Any ARC member is welcome to join the server, but if you are a non ARC member and wish to join the server, or you are an ARC member that wants to bring your friend, you must ask myself or Ilya first. There are several people playing on the server right now that I don't even know in real life, and the point of this server was that it was a server for ARC members that I know.
  
  If I catch you inviting random people and breaking those rule, you will be issued a temporary suspension of 5 days, and if you do it again, it will extend to 14. A third offense will result in a ban.

We now have 6 regulars on the server, anyone interested in playing is more than welcome to join us provided you obey the rules.

Fair Warning: The server is set to "Very Hard" difficulty. This means that you are going to die, a LOT. Your first shelter will probably be demolished by a giant wave of creepers come morning, and you will most likely be hunted down and killed by the horde of spiders hiding on your roof. That being said, do not be disheartened. We will be happy to offer tips for defending your home and would most likely help out if you really need some extra hands or blocks of stone to get a house up by sunset.

Regardless, no matter how smart you are, you are still going into a world where monsters are everywhere, the first step outside on a new day is the start of a mad dash to draw all the creepers out, porkchops are a strategic resource, and creepers hide in ambush INSIDE YOUR TREES. Play intelligently.

Literally inside the trees. You know that phenomenon where in winter, tree sap freezes and expands and trees fucking EXPLODE? Imagine that, except it happens all the time.

Creepers are creepy.

I want this to happen. It'll be like playing Shadow of the Colossus, except once you screw up you lose because the entire island gets destroyed.

Important question: How long is everyone wanting this to go on for. The whole night? Or just the whole day?

Just the day is fine. I doubt we'll be playing over the night, and having the server up over the night may cause some problems to the server and to the computer hosting the server.

By the way, does anyone know what happened to the torches in the basement of the storehouse? They all disappeared and now there are mobs spawning inside.

Actually, I was in favour of locking his character in an adminium room and setting his respawn point so that he couldn't get out, but meh, banning works too.
