((I will be busy tomorrow. and barely conscious right now. I might post tomorrow night. just reserving this spot for the mission/orders.)) ORDERS: 0. Use mutant detector to give radar support and coordinate the operation. 1. Camille (codename: Firestarter) is to basically set EVERYTHING ON FIRE, preferably in the guard's vicinity, though while trying to evade them as much as possible nonetheless. Also: after enough of a distraction is caused, get the hell out of there, and assist the extraction team if possible. 2. Brian (codename: soundwave) is to shatter every hostile's eardrums, and also the cameras and dogs. he will cover the retreat after the extraction process has commenced. 3. use Matt (codename: Earthbreaker) to tunnel to get in under the grounds. he'll be going in the extraction team, and then putting up a bunch of barriers to protect the rest of the group. 4. Sarah (codename: Tank) is to make the actual extraction. 5. Trudy: (codename: Trick) use time magicks to cover the extraction group's attack, and taze any man/dog she comes across that looks hostile. 6. Victoria: (codename: Eyes) has already scouted the base, so for now: just have her sit tight and go in with tazer if necessary. just add redundancy to the mutant detector/radar. also keep track of Camille's progress. 7. Self: (codename: Box) make overwatch with the shotgun i've got, in addition to viewing the mutant radar. rolling for self: Tactics. Rolled 1d10+10 : 1 + 10, total 11

down for any of those, assuming I'm available. Perhaps Frank Von Steinberg will live again... IN SPAAAAACE.
also, I might run another playtest of D&D NEXT if people want me to.* (since a new playtest package just came out... and looks pretty good, actually.)
*I don't want to DM, I want to play >.<

Additionally, how much would it cost to hire on a professional psychologist for the school? there is no doubt in my mind we have students in dire need of help.

I would like to suggest we hire on two more security guards. these would also be hired on with the security budget. as it is, our current guard force is just not enough to cover everything. I'd like to have, ideally, a dozen guards patrolling, but our finances simply are not commensurate to allow that.
current rotation looks like this: morning shift (8 hours) -- guards 1 and 2, 4 hours on patrol duty, 4 hours on monitor duty. Afternoon shift (8 hours) -- guards 3 and 4: 4 hours on patrol duty, 4 hours on monitor duty. Graveyard shift (8 hours) -- Self: 8 hours on monitor duty.
I'm kinda getting burnt out here guys. I'm starting to hear things through the walls. I'm pretty sure this place is haunted. oh wait, that's just the rats. god dammit, I hate rats. can we fix the hole in the roof? I think an owl has taken up residence up there, feeding on those damn rats.
--so please, let's get us some more security guards so we can have a SANE security chief! Let's renovate the rest of the house. that should be a priority in addition to this.
Security expansion III: 1. 2 more security personnel are to be hired on. Erwin Grueber to make standard [thorough] background checks, etc. guards are sworn to secrecy as usual, else standard punishments are to be meted out, as outlined in previous security expansion bills. 2. 2 more tasers are to be acquired for these people. 3. 20 more security cameras are to be set up along the walls and halls, and one pair to survey the trailer park area, and any other places we don't have them yet but should. [chris, tell me what number this would require, 20 is just a ballpark]. 4. approximate cost of this bill will be 5000$, plus 80,000$ yearly (we don't need more computers, but we do need more monitors, hence why this is less money spent than last time for the cameras.) 5. this money to come out of the security budget.
edit: Fix'd. jesse had said we still had a hole in roof, I didn't recall ever fixing it.

Report on Lily hammond case and murder of her boyfriend, Wallace Port. >Lily hammond was found after some investigation and reports from farmers. >Lily hammond's room was left with green slime all over the walls. Suggested some kind of insectoid growth, just a hunch, but it proved more accurate than I had imagined. >lead involved was farmers reporting coyote like creature eating compost. >coyotes are not omnivorous, so this was weird. >mousetrap went off without a hitch, taser was used to subdue the target briefly. >Target looks like a humanoid grasshopper, with the ability to jump almost 20 feet in the air, in addition to having strong fore-claws. >target was questioned as to what happened to her former boyfriend. Target saw the whole thing, but appears too traumatized to remember much beyond the target's claws. The claws were not large enough to be hers, according to forensic reports. >Target was questioned by police and the parents, but they did not wish to look at her. Psychological evaluation required. Suggest we hire on a shrink. >Target also appears traumatized by the murder. Double advize on the shrink. >acquired the 20,000$ reward. >also acquired 10,000$ in tuition funds. The parents do not wish us to teach her, but to cure her – but this seems infeasible for the time being. For now this will be tuition. >Lucia de Leon, I will need you to start trying to cure her as well, if this can be cured.
Commendations are to be awarded to Chuck Lizowski. without his assistance we could not have completed this mission as he caught Lily as she jumped. speaking of, we should probably check him over for any injuries sustained.

Plotline #2: Erwin Grueber
You head into town, driving along as the boys talk to themselves about what to expect at the crime scene. "So, was it like a shooting or something?" asks Chuck, his curiosity rising. "Like, what sort of weapon did the killer use?"
"We're not sure," says Desmond quietly, eyes on the road as he mulls over the events. "They'll release more details to us once we arrive."
Soon enough, you pull up at an area cordoned off by yellow tape. You park the car and let everyone out, and the four of you approach the line. A police officer holds up one hand to stop you, but he's cut off by another man, who you recognize as Officer Michaels. "Afternoon," he says, greeting you. "In case you're wondering, thanks to your bit of help last month at the motel, I got promoted to homicide." He jerks his thumb up over his shoulder. "Come on in, the commissioner's willing to have your input for this case. I should warn you," he says, eyes trailing over the boys, "the details are a bit graphic."
The four of you step under the tape before Michaels hands you each plastic ID tags and sets of blue disposable gloves. "Security regulations," he explains as you pull on the gloves and proceed down the alleyway. The buildings rise up around you as numerous officers and investigators take photographs of the area, writing down details with blue-gloved hands. Michaels leads you over to a tall man with a head of jerry curls and a beaky nose. "This is Ennis," Michaels says, "he's in charge of the autopsy reports."
The man named Ennis nods at you and your students. "So you're the kids I've heard about," he says, eyes trailing over the kids before returning to you. "If you think you can help, that's fine, but we've already got quite a few details. This whole thing occurred a couple of weeks ago, so what was left of the body has already been taken in for samples. This is just a follow-up investigation, the seventh we've done." He grimaces at this. "Pardon my french, but the whole thing has been a giant clusterfuck. Three weeks in, and we're covering the same ground, over and over again, thanks to the fact that we have no leads. No eyewitnesses, and barely a corpse to go with."
He sighs, pinching the bridge of his nose. "So, do you have any questions about the case? I'll answer what I can."
questions: cause/time of death? victim's name/address/age/school [if applicable?] did the victim have any enemies? [whispering] was she a mutant? if so, what were her powers? have you talked to the victim's family? did they say anything of note? and i'd like to talk to them too, to do my own interrogation if you please. who were the victims friends? about the kidnapping: can they give me any information whatsoever? probable suspects and their plans, etc. tell the children to see if they can't find anything of note, or anything that might be useful.
